Linden’s Easter weekend didn’t start off too great. He was so excited for the special weekend filled with egg hunts, Mr Easter Bunny himself and friends. I think his favorite part was that Daddy was off both Saturday and Sunday. In the firefighter world that only comes around every three weeks. I count the days till we get him all weekend.
Linden woke early Saturday at 7 am asking for food and saying he was hungry. What a random thing to wake for. To my memory at that time, I couldn’t remember him ever doing this. I got him a snack and within minutes he was gagging. I rushed him to the bathroom. He spit out the food he had in his mouth and laid down on the cold bathroom floor. I felt so bad for my baby. Daddy soon walked in the door and oddly Linden didn’t jump up. I knew something was wrong. He requested more food and seemed to be doing fine for about 30 minutes. I was wrong…..he became sick….and frequently. Strangely in between his spells he would beg for food. We were so confused. Why is he hungry but getting sick at the same time. It just didn’t make sense. By 11 am he was completely fine and back to himself. Strange…After talking to a friend, she suggested we explore the possibility of low blood sugar levels. After giving it much thought, I remembered this trend of our morning situation happening before and quite a bit. Perhaps Linden does have a blood sugar issue. As if Linden needs an added struggle and a new specialist. We’re going to keep an eye on this.
We were supposed to go to Morgan’s Wonderland Saturday morning for their annual Easter activities. For those of you in Central Texas, please do your kids a favor and take them to this place. It is amazing! It’s an amusement park for all abilities. No matter your child’s struggles, they can find comfort in this place as they can do everything. They have a train that takes you around the park and the kids love it. Don’t forget to try out the adorable Carousel. Unfortunately we didn’t make it out there but I bet all the other kiddos had a fantastic time.
Easter Sunday quickly came and Linden woke so excited to see what the Easter Bunny had brought him. He got an Ant Farm (thanks a lot, ants in the house sound like a crazy idea), Story Cubes and Crazy Straws. I love the Story Cubes as it prompts Linden to use his imagination. You roll the dice that have pictures on them. Whatever you roll you have to come up with a story about them. It can be tricky at first but extremely beneficially for developing minds. By noon we were on our way to spend time with my husbands fellow firefighters and their families. We had such a wonderful time. The Chief and his wife set up an egg hunt for the kids and lunch. Linden got to see some of his friends and had a awesome time being silly.
After a busy weekend we ended it will a bloody mouth. Linden fell and hit his front teeth/gums. Linden has a blood clot disorder which prevents him from bleeding out. Basically when he bleeds you don’t see a lot of blood due to clotting. However this time it was the opposite. He bled so much I worried he was going to become sick with the blood in his tummy. Within minutes the front gums started to turn purple and black. We set an emergency dentist appointment for the next morning. Long story short, his teeth are fine and fortunately his gums cushioned his fall. Phew!
Our weekend was eventful to say the least. Thankful for my husband who can deal with throw up as I am a weenie! Also thankful for such wonderful family and friends that take Linden in their arms with such love and acceptance. These people are truly what show us that people are good and kind. Thank you
